Q: Does it support both synchronous and asynchronous sending / throttling of SMS?
A: Yes
Q: Some of the operators we work with (most of them, actually) have their own, more or less proprietary billing protocols. Can we integrate towards those using either SMPP Box and/or VSMSC? Is it easy to merge into the platform?
A: Yes, the system supports SMPP TLV’s inbound and outbound.
Q: This is a general question, but is it possible to do a “clustered” setup of the platform – i.e. a setup where we have one instance of the platform running for each operator – but with one common database? Would it provide any advantages in terms of performance?
A: Yes you can, but this would only be necessary when sending extremely large volume ( over 1200 sms/sec)
Q: Can we set individual throughput ceilings on operator level? We get different capacity allocations from the operator (i.e. one operator allocates 50 SMS/sec for our account, another operator gives us 100 SMS/sec), can we configure that in the SMPP Box? If not, what happens if we attempt to send more than the throughput allocated with the operator
A: Yes
Q: With the hardware configuration recommended will we be able to perform up to the benchmarks.
A: If you get SAS disks with Xeon processors, yes.
Q: When you install the solution on our server, will the database be optimized from your side to the purpose? Have you configured indexes etc. to perform optimally with the VSMSC?
A: Yes.
Q: We still need to understand – what exactly is part of your solution and what is plain Kannel? I.e. if we buy SMPPBox today and the VSMSC, and tomorrow we stop the monthly rental agreement of VSMSC, what will be left with? Will it be Kannel, but without the web user interfaces etc., or will it just be the bare database?
A: We have integrated a solution directly into the Kannel system (no extra layers). So if you decide to stop using us, you will need to move your solutions to use a generic Kannel solution.
Q: Are we allowed to add features to the VSMSC gui? Can we change the design? Will this have to go through you or can we put our own developers on this?
A: Yes. Your own developers will be able to customise the gui.
